According to a new analysis of federal employment data released today by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) Buffalo, NY experienced the third largest percentage gain of construction jobs in the country during the period of October 2014 to October 2015. Buffalo added 4,400 jobs up 19% from this time last year. The largest percentage gains occurred in Weirton, WV at 56% (+900 jobs). Riverside, CA added 9,800 construction jobs which was the most in the country.
“Contractors are adding workers in many parts of the country again, which is consistent with the robust growth that is occurring in construction spending,” said Ken Simonson, the association’s chief economist. “But job gains would be even more widespread if contractors could find enough qualified experienced craft workers and supervisors as well as new entrants to the industry.”
