Service Electrician Who Is Not Surly

What is it about so many Journeyman level electricians in Western New York—why are they so surly? Why are so many talented mechanics, so quick to quit their jobs for an extra fifty cents and a pipe dream? Of course, money is important, but is that all that’s important?

I’m looking to hire someone who is not just in it for himself, but happy to put the company first.  He’ll wear our colors with pride, drive a company truck, and go solve electrical problems for our clients. And when that client says that he needs something else done—the last thing he’s thinking is, “What can I get out of this for myself—Can I swing this as a side job”?  Instead, he sells the next job..for the company.

My best electricians will care enough to coach the new guy.  They’ll recognize that without proper guidance, there’s a good chance that the mechanic will lose his way and end up with another company—and that doesn’t help his company grow and be successful.

He’ll look for ways to improve efficiency, cut waste, and produce more. Because he understands that when the company makes money, we all make money. He looks out for the company because he expects that the company will look out for him.

I understand the risk. I know why some folks might say that trusting me is downright stupid. But consider the upside. Wouldn’t it be cool if we could watch each other’s interests?

I promise, that if you meet me halfway—I’ll be there. I’ll meet you in the middle. And together, we’ll all be successful.
