ALACHUA, Fla. — NCCER and its Build Your Future (BYF) initiative have recently partnered with the Human Resources Construction Council (HRCC) to create a national BYF scholarship program for deserving individuals pursuing a career in construction through craft and technical programs. Scholarships are available to high school seniors, military service members, postsecondary students or anyone planning to attend a technical school or approved craft training program in any discipline of construction. Award recipients will receive $500 a year and can renew the scholarship for up to two years. Applications are due July 30 for the 2015-2016 academic year. To apply online, visit BYF.org/hrcc-scholarship and click on the scholarship application button. Winners will be notified by Aug. 3, and checks will be dispersed in late summer before the start of the school year. “One of the best ways for a company to address the construction workforce shortage is to train and develop craft professionals,” said Dana Hohn, chair of HRCC and human resources manager for LPR Construction of Loveland, CO. “HRCC is excited to partner with NCCER on this scholarship to show how vital quality training is to the industry.” For nearly 20 years, NCCER has been a proud supporter of HRCC.
