originalstitch.com—Don’t Do it!

The green shirt on the bottom is an origonalstich shirt. The one on top is one that fits perfectly. The pencil in the pic marks the top of the shoulder seam.

I struggled for so long. Should I buy a shirt from originalstitch or should I not? They offer remake guarantees and sound really impressive. Their marketing is impressive. They have a great website. I even got a personal email from Jimmy’s (the owner’s) assistant. She was going to personally assure my satisfaction. I had asked questions like, “If I measure my chest to be a 41″, do you make the shirt at 41″ or should I leave space, or do you take that into account?”  The answer I got was, “Don’t worry about it, just give us your measurements and if it doesn’t work we have a remake guarantee.”

So I pulled the trigger and ordered my $85 shirt.

BUYER BEWARE!  You don’t get to just start over.  What you have to do is add or subtract from their shirt.

Here is the problem. The shirt is so entirely screwed up to begin with you cannot possibly fix it.  It appears that they start with a one size fits most pattern and then just majorily hem it in.  The trouble is that things like your armpits are completely in the wrong spot. The shoulder is in the wrong spot, the sleeve is way too blousey, the chest too tight, the bottom too flared. For crying out loud, I am a carpenter. What do I know about fixing a shirt size? How do I tell them to “take the armpits up an inch or two”.

Just so you know, they do not do telephone support.

In the end, I am so much at a loss that I am not even going to try. It’s not worth the effort.

DO NOT BUY FROM ORIGINALSTITCH.COM!!
