Headhunters often get a bad rap for not finding a job for a person who submitted an application or resume. It’s worth remembering that unless you paid a fee, employment agencies do not work for you––they work for the company. Our promise to our client companies is that we will find them the one, single best person for their job opening. Distill that down and what it really means is that.. there is a chance that we may never actually call you. What it also means is that if and when we do call you, it will be for a really good reason!
I know when times are tough it’s sometimes easy to get frustrated with agencies. My advice is to be patient. Always have a great attitude (even if you sometimes don’t feel it). And invent reasons to get in front of Recruiters that you trust. Stop in, call, or email with any changes to your resume. A good headhunter will usually keep your resume indefinitely. Let them know what that dream job looks like. You just never know when it will cross their desk.
