R&P Oak Hill Development Announces Employees to Acquire Company

Buffalo Construction Company Employees to Benefit from Company Rebranding

Buffalo, NY (June 30, 2016) – After 10 years of success in the construction management business, R&P Oak Hill Development has changed their name to “RP Oak Hill Building Company Inc.” and is rebranding their image to signify their recent implementation of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).

“Our current owners are closer to the end of their careers than the start, so we looked at various options to continue the success of the company we’ve created,” said President/CEO Gary Bichler. “Employee Ownership is clearly the best choice to provide great opportunities for our younger employees while creating an avenue for a long and seamless transition. We are further encouraged by the prospect of employee ownership based on the
experience of two very successful local employee-owned companies; The John W. Danforth Company and Ferguson Electric Company.”

RP Oak Hill employs 45 staff members that could benefit from Employee Ownership. Senior Superintendent Phil Fleming has worked for RP Oak Hill for over 10 years. When asked what he thought of the changes, he replied “Now that we have Employee Ownership, people will buy into the system that may not have bought into it before and that will create a nice atmosphere. Our management has always treated us like we’re owners, but now that we really are, that’s fantastic. It’s great that your employers thought enough of you to give this to you for your future. When they first told us, I felt like I was in an episode of ‘Undercover Boss’.”

To commemorate the changes to their business model, a decision was made to rebrand their image. “We wanted to create a way to distinguish that our employees are acquiring the company and to better reflect on what we do (as a general contracting and construction management company), so we decided to rebrand ourselves”, said COO Chris Hogan.

Rebranding changes for RP Oak Hill Building Company Inc. include a new logo design and a change in management with the following employee promotions and title changes:

Gary Bichler—President/Chief Executive Officer (former Partner)
Chris Hogan—Chief Operating Officer (former Partner)
Onkham Rattanaphasouk—Chief Financial Officer/Secretary/Treasurer (employee promotion)
Matt Famiglietti—Vice President (employee promotion)
Dave Sanford—Vice President of Estimating (employee promotion)
Melissa Baumgart, former President and company founder, will now serve on the Board of Directors.

The transition to RP Oak Hill Building Company Inc. will occur on June 30, 2016.
