OSHA Postpones it’s original June 16, 2011 Effective Date of Residential Roofing
Directive to September 15, 2011
Enforcement of the new residential roofing directive is being pushed back to September 15, 2011, according to a letter the Occupational Safety and Health Administration sent out last week to the construction community. The target date to start enforcement had been previously set at June 16, 2011.
OSHA sent out a message that they will not penalize contractors if they are following the existing roofing directive until September 15, when the new directive will now come into force.
The delay gives group members doing residential roofing more time to iron out differences on how the directive should be interpreted and to prepare for the new requirements.
As soon as we get any updated information, we will let you know.
