Surly Employees
I recently attended a breakfast seminar titled Leading Across Generations. It was hosted by Business First and presented by Andrew Terranova of Dale Carnegie.
Andy opened by discussing a problem that so many organizations face in that many of their employees are disengaged. The percentages from a variety of studies that were sited ranged from 26% to 63%. He went on to explain off the charts productivity levels in those who were engaged at work vs those who couldn’t wait to clock out.
Coincidently I had just written this job post about Surly Electricians and asking why there seem to be so many in Western New York.
I’ve been in the construction business here in Buffalo for close to 30 years now and from my perspective the electricians are arguably the least engaged with their employers.
Of course I have my own theory but I would really love to hear what you think? Maybe you think I’m unfairly picking on electricians. Fair enough—it’s just my opinion. Let me know yours.
You are NOT Nuts. You are observing what happens when young people grow up watching TV, playing video games and living in Dad’s basement at 25Yrs old.
The’re all spoiled little $hits who have no loyalty except to Twitter and Facebook.
I wish you good luck…. BTW maybe try the Amish…. they actually WORK !
